Simple Routines to Avoid Clutter

It’s natural for things to shift in your home. You have a birthday party and now there’s wrapping paper, tape, and scissors out. You go to the grocery store and now your reusable bags are out. Best practice is to put things back immediately. But if that doesn’t happen, then the next best thing is to make a practice of taking something every time you travel from one room to another in your home.

Instead of shuffling knickknacks or loose papers around, first consider if it is something you can recycle, throw, or donate. Old receipts, appliance manuals, birthday candles, old mail, trinkets from Happy Meal toys, or pamphlets from events can end up as clutter that never has a home. These are the sorts of things you want to discard.

Spend 10 minutes after dinner or before bed doing a quick tidying of your living space. This simple step can help you maintain an organized and clutter-free space.
